8-12
I am going to keep this blog. Initially I thought I should either change my address or get a totally new account. I thought I would explore other service providers. But work came along and I never got down to doing anything. As you would have guessed, I didn’t even have time to post.
But here I am posting again. And that means I have decided to keep the blog. Its just too much hassle to get a new address or set up some new account. I finally got down to creating a new facebook account and that took so much time that I am going through that whole process with a new blogging account.
I am currently listening to Bubbly. I don’t know who sang it but she has got a beautiful voice. Maybe its just the song. I cant stop listening to it.
It’s the last two weeks of school before the holidays are officially here. It’s the school holidays for the kids but we have got to be back in school for the next two weeks simply because the primary school teachers have two more weeks of school. So for the next two weeks, I will be going in at 8 and I will literally wait for 4 hours before I get to leave school.
Its not too bad. Its not like I don’t have work to do. I have this sports leaders camp in mid November that me and TF have been put in charge of, and getting vendors to respond have been surprisingly quite tedious. I don’t understand why these service providers would want to turn away business. If I were them, I would bend over backwards just to please the customer ( in this case that’s ME!) and clinch the deal. Other than harassing these vendors, I am busy conceptualizing this camp such that it meets the needs of the department and the students, or at least what I believe these needs should be.
I hope that by the end of the camp, they would come out of it being inspired to take on their roles as Sports leaders in a new and revolutionary light. That they would go back to their CCAs and build a team that might not deliver results yet but remain united as an entity.
I hope to make the camp something they would not forget forever and one that would change their lives. A camp that they wouldn’t want to end. But that;s just me. Its going to be difficult given the many objectives the camp should achieve.
Its important that they have fun and the time of their lives but I believe in initiative and leadership and for an LTC, its important to implement opportunities that allow them to practice this, like taking their own roll calls, organizing their own meals etc…. But they will definitely make mistakes and such qualities would not surface and when that happens, we are going to need to go hard on them. After all they are the best the school has to offer. My expectations are very high. So its going to be going to be difficult getting them to have fun yet be an asshole every now and then.
I also have to creat this whole trekking module because some service provider I was supposed to engage don’t have the manpower to serve my needs. And because both me and TF think that Trekking is going to be fundamental in meeting our objectives, we have to take time planning for it. This sucks cos this means recce and taking pictures and having a wet weather programme bla bla …. Well, its after all our idea.
Then I have delegated the PE teachers to help in conducting the different modules throughout the camp, and I undertook the Training management and Gym orientation element. And we allocated two hours for that, so I am going to have to really prepare for that. Like power point, hands on activity, opportunities for leadership kind of prepare…
There is also risk assessment worksheets and tying everything in from a macro perspective to see we haven’t missed anything out. Food, logistics have been more or less settled. TF is handling the finances. She is meticulous and anal so I don’t have to worry. Furthermore she has a stake in this and she is naturally a great person. I don’t know how its relevant but it just is.
But as I said there is still much to do. So I am not exactly wasting time in school these two weeks. In fact I think it’s a blessing that we have to come, so I wont get to procrastinate. I also hope to clear my cubicle and get everything organized for next year. I have only been here for like 6 months and I have accumulated so much nonsense. I cant imagine the mess on my table if I don’t get it done this holidays come next year.
I have also decided to transfer some of my stuff from home to be put in my school cupboard. I am going to here for the long haul so might as well get comfortable. Furthermore this “stuff” are all work related. I get to clear my room and maybe get my room organized as well. Make space for a bike, a tv maybe?
This are just aims guys. Stuff I hope to achieve. As I said before I started blogging, by penning it down it helps me to commit to what I aim to achieve. So I hope it works.
Alright, this is too darn long a post. I am going to stop here and watch tv. I get to wake up an hour later tomorrow as compared to the past Tuesday mornings, so I get to reward myself with TV, although I think I am going to fall asleep 10 minutes in to staring at the tube.
Later folks
