Much Ado about Nothing

This posting is a dedication to my theatre practical group. For those who are clueless, I took TS1101 E, an exposure module that required students to put up a play as a final examination. The group that I am so proud to be a part of, comprises of these following individuals that you would see below, namely Ying Shi, Chermaine, Shilin, Moon and Carmen.. I feel really blessed to have affiliated myself with them not only because they are all outstanding theatre students who were hardworking and dedicated to the cause( doing well), but also because they have managed do all that while still functioning as a group without getting on each other’s nerves. In fact, I like them so much then when it finally ended on the day of production, which was Thursday, I drove home crying. But then again, I do that all the time. Anyway this is a posting dedicated to a project group that I feel truly grateful to have been a part of.

Shilin, Ying Shi, Moon, Carmen, Chermaine and Me Posted by Hello

This is all of them. This picture was taken at our first rehearsal I think, and we all wore red and black because we wanted to print a programme booklet for the final production, and as you can see, Chermaine, had to get it all wrong. Oh yes, evidently, I am the thorn amongst the roses in this group. But this is hardly surprising, cos there are hardly any guys who take theatre. If they do take it, they are either gay or they are stupid enough to take an exposure module that is so much more demanding than any other exposure module. I, on the other hand, am an exception to both cases. I take it cos I like it.

I look like an idiot, maybe its cos I am surrounded by girls. I am shy la..... Posted by Hello

The award winning cast. I am so not photogenic!!!!! Posted by Hello

Oh yes, by the way it ws Chermaine's idea for all of us to wear red and black, but well as you can see, i guess she saw it a little differently from all of us.... Posted by Hello

This was taken after the show. We were feeling pretty good, because finally it was all over. Trust me, it takes a lot of work to put up a production of this magnitude given the limited resources and time that we had. Furthermore, we had just been commended greatly by our examiners. Oh, I forgot, the script we chose was from Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. For those who have read the literature, I acted as Benedict, Chermaine was Beatrice, Carmen as Claudio, Moon as Leonato and Shilin was Don Pedro. Ying Shi was our director and we all decided to transpose the whole script to 16th Century China, during a time of the Ming Dynasty hence the costumes. There were more “chim” reasons that paralleled the Shakespeare version to that of the Ming Dynasty, but I shant go into the details.

Our talented director, the professor was so impressed by her essay, he decided to give her A++++++++. Imagine that. Posted by Hello

Kim, was the coordinator at the Black Box who happens to be Chermaine's friend, Luck was certainly on our side. Posted by Hello

Stop laughing. We were told to pose according to character, and kung fu was the only think i could think of then Posted by Hello

The other girls is Chermaine's sister, whom we must thank as well for agreeing to be our tackey. From this pic, you can tell they love me as much as i love them. Ha ha!! Posted by Hello

So there you have it. I would rather refer to us as a theatre group instead of my project group, simply because of all their talent in their respective fields of theatre. Thank you friends, for the honour of working with all of you and for the pleasure of knowing all of you. It certainly would be a lasting memory of my undergraduate days as i graduate at the end of this semester.

Not everyone

I just needed to mention that the photos that have just been uploaded, was a collage of the surprise bday party my friends had for me at Fish and Co. I needed to say this because i did state in my previous posting that the next photo collage was a dedication to everyone in my life, which would be quite inaccurate because photos of my family, and a lot of my other friends are not in this, cos I haven been able to organize them yet. Nevertheless, the people featured in these photos comes under the same category of very important people in my life as well....Ok I am being long winded. You all get the point.

I could blog...

I haven’t blogged for very long. And a lot has happened.

I could blog about the reunion gig with my old friends at the Munchie Monkeys where we played old classics, but it was letdown by my inability to hold the mic properly. Furthermore a friend of mine thought so lowly of it that he even failed to mention my group during one of his entries that wrote about how he was entertained by all the other performers on that day.

I could also blog about my physical proficiency test held on that same day. This was a test that determined whether I was fit enough and apparently “cool” enough to start training to be a PE teacher. The possibility of failing was high because I wasn’t quick enough to react to badminton serve, however the results came and I didn’t fare too badly, although this same friend of mine, thought it was such a disgrace for him that he passed with the same points I had. He has a point. After all he epitomizes everything a pe teacher should be, fit, agile, muscular, smart, inspirational, eloquent, witty, humble…..

I could also blog about the amount of flak I have gotten from everyone for the inactivity on this page, that made me realize the amount of fans that my blog has attracted or so I think. I have just been busy friends with school work, and everytime I felt like blogging, my guilt kept telling me that I should be spending this time doing my countless number of essays.

I could have also blogged about one of the greatest birthdays I have had in years. Yes I turned 24 on 8th April and my friends gave me a surprise at Fish and Co at Park Mall. Its one of those, I thought nobody bothered about my birthday but in the end everybody actually did care, kind of surprise. Earlier on in the day, my nu quest colleagues and boss, gave me a surprise as well, with a mango cake and a paycheck worth more than I had deserved. After the surprise at Park Mall, it was off to meet great friends at simpang although those who were absent for various reason were sorely missed. All in all I would really like to thank everyone, those who bothered to organize the entire day, and those who turned up, I am truly grateful for having friends like all of you. I cannot thank all of you enough.
The next day was spent with the people at home. We had a sumptuous meal at Istanbul after I came back from Mendaki and had my much needed rest from all the activity the day before. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat as much as I wanted to, in the name of maintaining my healthy lifestyle. Oh yes, fortunately I haven’t totally slacked off from my exercise regime, although I have forgone the whole no-carbo diet phase. I just try to eat less rice nowadays.

I could also blog about the mundane lifestyle that I am leading right now, because I am busy preparing for my exams that will be happening next week. As it is right now, I am in school after just 3 hours of sleep last night. Its really difficult preparing for my exams with a theatre practical smacked right in the middle of the reading week. It is also difficult to be studying when I have simply lost any mood to do so. So I suppose any hopes of graduating with a bang is all lost.

Lastly, I should blog about how grateful I am for the life I am leading right now that God has bestowed upon me. This is because I feel that I am blessed to have the company of great people. I have a great family that have supported me and been there for me no matter what, and great friends that have stayed me in my happy and sad hours. The next posting is a photo collage, in dedication to these very important people in my life. All I need now is……
